The Union of Clinical Officers in the country, KUCO has now called off their national strike for a period of 21 days.
This is due to the dialogue between the officials and the relevant stakeholders in the government starting to give a glimmer of hope after discussing and agreeing on some of their demands.
The Secretary General of KUCO, George Gibore, has said that the leaders of the union have held discussions with the Council of Governors regarding their complaints, including the recognition and inclusion of the institution and its officers in the SHA health insurance program.
In addition, Gibore has revealed that their grievances as well as the employment of apprentice officers are being addressed, a move that led the union to temporarily suspend their strike in order to achieve the implementation of their demands and grievances.
However, Gibore has revealed that the strike of clinic officials is still ongoing in Kwale, Lamu, Vihiga and Uasin Gishu counties due to complex issues concerning those counties.
This is happening while the county governments are finding that they need more time to deal with the issues raised by the officials, a situation that led to disagreements on some of those issues.
