The White House has come under fire after posting a video attacking Selena Gomez for showing compassion for immigrants being deported from the United States.
In the post, the White House claimed that Kayla Hamilton, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin were killed by undocumented immigrants, and that their mothers had a message for Selena Gomez and those who oppose strict immigration policies.
However, the post was met with anger from people, who interpreted it as a political, hateful, and inappropriate post from the White House’s official account.
One of the critics wrote, “Why is the official White House account using the tragedy for kicks and propaganda?”
Others defended Selena Gomez, saying she was crying for honest immigrants looking for a better life, not for criminals.
“Selena Gomez has the right to express her feelings, whether people agree with her or not. This is freedom of speech,” wrote one user.
This debate has fueled strong feelings about immigration and how President Donald Trump’s administration is using crime scenes for political gain.
