According to new statistics from Spotify, men in Kenya are more depressed than women in 2025.
Statistics show that Kenyan men have listened to love songs about heart breaks at a higher rate (107%) compared to women (105%).
The song that dominates the charts of consoling songs in Kenya is You Broke Me First by Tate MacRae. This song, released in 2020, has become a song of comfort for those going through the pain of love and lasted on the Billboard Hot 100 for a period of 38 weeks.
Its popularity continues to rise, indicating how Kenyans rely on music to respond to love feelings.
Also, statistics show that over the past three years, listening to consoling songs among Kenyans has increased by 189%. This shows how music is used as emotional therapy for many.
Male Artists Dominating Heartbreak Music
Surprisingly, male artistes are leading the way in releasing songs that comfort the heartbroken Kenyans. Among the 10 most played songs are:
Someone You Loved –Lewis Capaldi.
Say You Won’t Let Go –James Authour.
Let Me Down Slowly – Alec Benjamin
In the Stars – Benson Boone.
But also, female artists have not been left behind in giving Kenyans heartbreak songs.
