RESEARCH – Excessive video games damage mental health.
A recent study revealed that teenagers who spend more than three hours a day playing video games for fun are at a higher risk of depression and psychological anxiety.
By following a large group of teenagers, researchers examined the effects of different types of screen use on mental health.
The results showed that moderate screen use for education helps reduce stress, but excessive use for entertainment increases the risk of depression and anxiety.
Experts now advise parents and guardians to encourage young people to have a good balance in digital usage to develop a healthy lifestyle.
