President Ruto urges the High Court to dismiss a petition seeking his impeachment.
President William Ruto has urged the High Court to dismiss a petition by activists seeking his impeachment through a referendum, citing incompetence, abuse of power, and constitutional violations.
His legal team, led by Senior Counsel Fred Ngatia, argues that the petition is legally flawed, questioning the suing of the President in his personal capacity and the legality of a voter-led removal process.
Ngatia told Justice Bahati Mwamuye that the petition attempts to override the National Assembly’s constitutional mandate on presidential impeachment.
