Things are getting messy, as world richest man and powerful politician take to social to drag each other down, President Donald Trump and Elon Musk show down begins.
The fierce war of words began when Trump said that he is disappointed by Musk, after he disagreed on a bill that he was aware, a statement that angered Elon, who responded that he is not aware, nor informed about the Bill.
Elon’s statement comes after Trump told reporters that he is “very disappointed” in Musk, for his criticism of the ‘big, beautiful bill’. Elon Musk and Donald Trump are clashing over Trump’s “big beautiful bill,” a tax-and-spending proposal Musk calls a “disgusting abomination” for ballooning the deficit.
“I’m very disappointed with Elon. I’ve helped him a lot. He knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem & he only developed the problem when he found out we’re going to cut EV mandate,” Trump stated.
Trump claims that Musk’s opposition possibly tied to cuts in electric vehicle incentives affecting Tesla. Their strong history, with Musk’s $250 million election support, suggests this policy-driven rift might be temporary, but public jabs show real tension.
Trump faulted Trump for being ungrateful after he helped him clinch the presidency. According to Musk, President Donald Trump would have lost the election with Democrats controlling the House and the Republicans the Senate, with would be 51-49.
Following the break-up, Tump has threatened to cut off government contracts with billionaire Elon Musk’s companies, while Musk suggested Trump should be impeached.
“The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” Trump posted on X.
Minutes after later, Musk replied, “Yes,” to a post on X saying Trump should be impeached. Trump’s Republicans hold majorities in both chambers of Congress and are highly unlikely to impeach him.
As the two bigwigs fight, Democrats seem happy to stand back and let the two men exchange blows. And until they abandon this fight, the din is likely to drown out everything else in American politics.
