A court in Nyeri has reinstated suspended Isiolo County Assembly Clerk Salad Boru, after he was suspended in a controversial situation by the Isiolo County Public Service Board early this week.
Boru was suspended following the ongoing county conflict between Governor Abdi Guyo and County Assembly Speaker Mohammed Roba, who has approved impeachment motion from the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) on June 12.
Justice Onesmus Makau of Nyeri Employment and Labour Relations Court, issued an order stopping performance of the duties of the County Clerk until the issue is heard and determined. Makau directed that the case be heard on June 25, for an inter-party hearing.
In his argument the embattled County Clerk had stated that his suspension had not followed the due process, as the County Assembly Speaker Mohamed Roba had made the decision in unison.
The County public Service Board had send Boru on a 30- day compulsory leave to pave the way for a pending debate on the impeachment of the governor. Boru was ousted for cancelling a public participation session convened by the County Assembly to plan the governor’s removal.
Isiolo county has been mulled with controversies since the tabling of impeachment motion against Guyo, who received a reprieve after the court issued a conservatory order stopping the County Assembly from discussing his impeachment until the case is heard on June 30.
The MCAs accused the county boss for using a section of his allies to intimidate the MCAs. However, they vowed not to be intimidated by the governor. They further stated that they do not have an ill motives against the governor, as they impeachment motion aligns with duty to be performed by the County Assembly as outlined by the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
On Wednesday, supporters of Governor Guyo stormed the County Assembly premises, forcing police officers to rescue the MCAs who had arrived to conduct business of the day, when they were caught in the mayhem.
