After refuting claims of his resignation earlier in the week, Isiolo County Speaker Mohamed Roba officially released his statement of his resignation, which is dated June, Wednesday 18.
In his statement, Roba cites personal reasons for his resignation, which according to the letter the resignation became effective on June. Tuesday 17.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 11 (d) of the County Government Act (Cap 265) sections 21 (5) (d) of the Elections Act (Cap 7) and standing order no. 5 of the County Assembly of Isiolo orders (2022 Edition), I hereby tender my resignation as the Speaker of the County Assembly effective from 17th June, 2025, due to personal reason,” read the statement.
His resignation coming few hours after Justice Onesmus Makau of Nyeri Employment and Labour Relations Court, reinstated County Assembly Clerk Sala Boru, after he was suspended under controversial circumstances, by Roba’s solo decision to the County Assembly Public Service Board.
Makau, issued an order stopping performance of the duties of the County Clerk until the issue is heard and determined. Makau directed that the case be heard on June 25, for an inter-party hearing.
The County has witnessed chaos and infights after the tabling of the impeachment motion against Governor Abdi Guyo, who was accused by a section of MCAs of intimidation.
However, Guyo received a reprieve, after the court issued a conservatory order stopping the County Assembly from discussing his impeachment until the case is heard on June 30
