A win for residents of Moyale Constituency after area Member of Parliament (MP) Prof Guyo Jaldesa lobby for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in the area bores fruit.
According to Jaldesa, the National Government has allocated a budget for the construction of the medical campus at the Moyale border town, which will begin soon.
“My request has been approved, and the budget has been allocated. The construction of the historic medical campus in Moyale will commence as soon as possible. Currently,we are just considering the location of the campus with relevant authorities,” Jaldesa announced.
As earlier advised by education stakeholders for survey and assessment of the area to determine a suitable and secure place for the campus, relevant authorities in the county have began the search of a location for the institution, which according to Jaldesa will open up chances for local students, as well as creating job opportunities for residents.
“This is a great milestone and a big opportunity for our community. Our children will have opportunities to learn medical courses , and the residents will benefit from job opportunities.” he further stated.
Reinforcing his commitment to improve healthcare and education access to residents of Moyale, the legislator said that he will further lobby to the National Assembly Health Committee, to equip the upcoming medical institution, so that it can offer residents quality and better services.
“As your servant and member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, I will continue to lobby for more to ensure that we have one of the best KMTC campuses in Kenya,” Guyo said.
The move marks a major milestone not only in the health sector but education sector. Further boosting the education sector, Guyo released a total of KSh 73 million, whereby KSh 39 million was distributed in 17 secondary schools in Moyale and Sololo, that saw 4,881 children from vulnerable families in the constituency benefiting.
He further urged leaders from the region to bury their hatchet and unity, so that the region can progress, open up and see development projects from outside and within the county.
