Democratic Citizen’s Party (DCP) Deputy leader Cleophas Malala has raised controversial remarks against the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on his political journey.
Speaking during ana interview on June, Monday 23, Malala claimed that the ODM party leader ahs always not been interested in taking the leadership of the country, but to enjoy power without any responsibilities accorded to him.
Citing the signed March 7, Joint Framework MOU with a 10 point agenda, which bore the Broad-based government, has done nothing tangible has ever come out of it, not even a single meeting to see how the agendas will be implemented.
“Raila Odinga has never been interested to become the president of this country, he wants to be in power without responsibility. They came through the MOU, and have done nothing. He enjoys being in government protection, privileges , appointing people in government, and doesn’t want responsibility,” he said.
According to him, once government fails, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is sent to condemn the happenings threatening to walk out of the agreement, as it is not part of the MOU signed.
“When the government is in a fix, they sent Sifuna to say that was not part of the agreement, we shall go out but when things are calm he remains silent,” Malala added.
According to him, Raila lost touch after joining government, as he led the country into a series of demonstrations across the country, calling out the government on the high cost of living. He reminded the nation on his recent change of tune on Adani deal, as he has issued a statement last year against the government’s agreement and the Indian group to renovate JKIA.
He was across the country demonstrating the high cost of living at the forefront, similar to the 2024 protests and even issued a statement against the Adani deal, but he currently changed tune. He has appointed his kinsmen into government who are managing key affairs of the country including the treasurer and budgeting in National Assembly,” he further said.
He faulted the new team for failing to solve the issues that they were fighting for, as the current budget by National Treasury CS John Mbadi, has introduced tax on basic commodities that were tax exempted by the previous regime, will affect the cost of living.
