UDA chairperson and Embu governor Cecily Mbarire has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly sponsoring goons to infiltrate Wednesday, June 25 protests by Gen Zs in Embu County.
Addressing the press on Thursday, Mbarire breath fire towards Gachagua, over what she alleged is a planned effort with leaders from the county to incite violence, which claimed was being aimed to undermine her administration and leadership.
“Rigathi Gachagua, I will not care how strong you may be, but you will not intimidate me anymore, and I will not stay silent Rigathi Gachagua, kama wewe ni Mungu take my life today. You cannot turn Embu into a battlefield,” she remarked.
He faulted the former DP for trying to access power through violence, using Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji to plan violence in the county, as well as frustrating leaders from the region who do not support his ideas.
“Why do you think you can get power through the back door Rigathi Gachagua? Why do you think that those who refuse to listen to you do not matter, it either your way or no way? We have our independent minds. You come here used our local leaders, planning everything. Let him not threaten me, ” she stated.
She cautioned Mukunji for allowing Gachagua to use him to cause chaos in the county, cautioning him he is trading on his own downfall, and taking the advantage of the silence of leaders from the region as a weakness. Questioning their planned tour of the region, after causing people loses and pain.
“Stop destroying the property of the people, come for me if I’m the problem, leave the business people alone, leave my people alone. I here you are coming, what are you coming to tell us? Kutuchekelea after you have destroyed our property? I dare you to come back and destroy our property. Stop being misused, those misusing you kwao mambo iko sawa,” Mbarire further lamented.
He called on the Gachagua to stop forcing people into his camp through coercion, but instead use issues and what he will do for the people and his agenda.
We are tired by your style of politics. You do not make people love you through coercion, but persuading them with issues and what you stand for, what you will do for them, I’m not scared of you come and insult me, change the your leadership, I’m not scared of you Gachagua,” she dared him.
She urged the residents to shun divisive politics, to allow development in the area, and stop fighting the leadership of President William Ruto for more development to be pumped in the county.
