Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has questioned the government linking former DP Rigathi Gachagua to the chaos currently in the country, following a deadly Saba Saba protests in 17 counties on Monday July 7.
In a post in his X account on Friday, Kibwana explained the emergency of the Gen Z movement, stating that it started way before Gachagua was impeached in September, while the new wave of youthful politics started in June 2024.
The former governor asked the government to clearly explain how the new declared chief opposition leader Rigathi Gachagua is the leader of the movement, when the protests started while he was still in government.
“Mountainman RG was impeached October 2024. Gen Z Uprising debacled June 2024. Help me with the maths! How could @rigathi the former Deputy President be the midwife of the Youth Movement? ” Kibwana questioned.
He challenged President William Ruto’s led administration to appreciate and accept that their is a new wave of politics led by the youth, who are in for better leadership and governance, as well as functional systems.
“We must come to terms with the emergent Youth Power. They want to fix Kenya for all of us!” He added.
Since the protests erupted this year demanding justice for slain X blogger Albert Ojwang’ killed at Central Police Station in Nairobi, Ruto’s close allies have linked the DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua for orchestrating and financing violence in the country, disguised as peaceful protests.
Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji was arrested and facing terrorism related charges for planning and organizing protests during Monday, July 7 Saba Saba anniversary protests in Embu County.
Mukunji a close ally of Gachagua was released on Thursday evening along with Inooro TV journalist James Mbochi and boda boda rider Stanley Mbuthia. However, the fierce Gachagua in his addresses asked President William Ruto to arrest him, if they believe he is the one financing protests in the country.
