Mugithi superstar and Kenya Police officer Samidoh performed for former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua in Seattle on Saturday, during their tour of the United States.
The event was organised by Karumba Muthoni famously known as Baby Tops and Samidoh, who took to the stage and graced the audience with a Mau Mau song, before he ushered the two leaders to address Kenyans in Seattle, who was warmly and joyfully welcomed by the crowd.
Taking to the stage, Gachagua chanted his famous viral slogan Wantam, before showering Samidoh for his melodious and artistic talent, taking Kenya music to another level, as well as the community.
The two had recently differed after Samidoh’s visit to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki at his Karen residence months ago, when he hosted musicians from the Mt. Kenya region.
In his address Gachagua, did not miss out to hit at artists from Mt. Kenya who visited Kindiki, stating that the primary role for musicians is to entertain people and provide comfort and relief at tough moments, and not to make visits to the Country’s Centre of power State House.
He cautioned the artists for dining with the oppressors of the people, and want to perform and relieve them of their anger with their songs. He threw a jab to Kenya Kwanza government for trying to use artists to convince Kenyans that Social Health Authority (SHA) is working.
“They were trying to coerce these musicians to go and sing for them and lie to the people of Kenya that SHA is working , and I told them that you musician work is to sing for the people to sleep and not work for them. Your work is to entertain us when we are relaxing. There is no way you can be with the president and come to sing to the people who are frustrated by Kasongo ,” Gachagua remarked.
Gachagua said that musicians should not try to create an illusion to Kenyans that the government is delivering, when Kenyans can clear see that nothing in the country is working. He hilariously asked the artists to stick to singing about relationships, courtship and love.
