Former Isiolo South legislator Abdullahi Banticha appointment as the speaker of the County Assembly has come to an end after an official gazette notice signed by County Clerk Salad Boru issued on Monday, July 14.
According to a Kenya Gazette notice dated 14th July 2025, the revocation takes effect immediately. His appointment has been revoked as under the Constitution, County Governments Act, Elections Act, and assembly Standing Orders.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Article 178(2) of the Constitution of Kenya, as read together with section 9A of the County Governments Act, section 21 of the Elections Act, and Standing Order No. 5 of the County Assembly of Isiolo Standing Orders, as read together with Standing Order No. 13 of the same,” read the notice.
The notice dated Monday, July 14, states Banticha’s appointment is revoked with immediate effect, ending the dramatic appointment, swearing and gazettement of Banticha as the assembly was divided since the tabling of impeachment motion of Governor Abdi Guyo, who technically survived the impeachment after the Senate dismissed his case on Tuesday last week.
“It is notified to the general information of the public that the appoint of Abdullahi Jaldesa Banticha as the Speaker of the County Assembly Isiolo County and Chairman of the Isiolo County Assembly Service Board is revoked with effect from the 14th July 2025,” further read the notice.
After his appointment, Banticha visited the County Assembly chambers to access the damage after youths stormed in and destroyed properties after the assembly approved Guyo’s impeachment.
His revocation comes barely a day after Governor Guyo met five MCAs including the deputy speaker adding his camp to seven, called for reconciliation to work together for the people of Isiolo, and put their differences aside.
The Assembly has recently been divided into two fractions, one leaning towards Speaker Mohamed Roba and the other fraction to Guyo, which has seen the Assembly chambers into a leadership crisis.
