On Monday, a viral video surfaced online of a school in Kisii County using a driller to cook ugali for students in a boiler.
In the video, two cooks holding different sides of the driller are seen spinning ugali for the students, with the electric driller, notably simplifying their work.
The move grabbed the attention of Kenyans who held varied opinions on the same, while some calling it improvement of technology while others terming it as a health hazard among the students.

“Not healthy for students…. metal pilling in ugali,” @Pal Vanzel.
“Technology feels good…But I hope they prioritized on hygiene,” @Muhoho David.
“To get the right information visit karuworks. It’s the best innovation ever that helps our schools,” Philip Marube.
“Metallic pieces are not an issue here. Even posho mills are metallic,” Joseph Kitur.
“For the cooks the steam is unsafe to breath hot air,” Nick ipamba.
“Great idea needs improvement to avoid the bad effects,” James Mureithi.
“This should be banned ASAP, metal will pill from the boiler at the slightest contact and hence students will consume metal. Very bad idea,” John Ngari.

“Yani machine ya kudril mashimo ndo mnatumia kwa ugali?”ken Sem also questioned.
“I hope the auger is wooden, otherwise,, that machine will be drilling the pots besides being hazardous.,”Anthonio Marenye stated.
Schools across the country have adopted the new technology to save energy and embrace clean energy cooking, which is aimed to protect the environment, by avoiding cutting down of trees, and cooks developing respiratory conditions from the smoke inhaled for a long time in the kitchen.
