The Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has confirmed the death of a male patient in ward 7B on Thursday, July 17 in the afternoon.
The incident was confirmed by KNH Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. William Sigilai that the patient was found dead and his beddings soaked in blood at 2pm, after visiting hours. According to Sigilai, the deceased patient was certified dead after confirmation by medical officers.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital. On the afternoon of 17th July, 2025 at around 2pm, immediately after visiting hours , a patient was discovered in a medical ward in blood-soaked beddings. The patient was examined and certified dead,” Sigilai confirmed.
The death of the 54-year-old comes five months after another patient died in the same ward, at the opposite bed after he his throat was slit by unknown person, with the current murder exhibiting similar brutality, raising alarm on the pattern of the death, with visible blood noted on the floor.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Division and forensic experts from the Government Chemist Department, arrived at the scene to collect evidence to unravel the motive behind the heinous act.
According to a report by National police Service as at Thursday evening, they confirmed identifying the suspect using the hospital’s CCTv footage, noting that the suspect is the same who murdered the patient in February this year, as the weapon believed to have committed the murder at the gate.
