Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hit out to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and President William Ruto following new policy guidelines by National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), to curb drug abuse in the country.
Taking to his social media page to respond to the policy guideline proposal, Gachagua refuted the efforts by Murkomen, arguing that he had managed to put measures that had successfully curbed illicit alcohol and drug abuse that had brough sobriety among families in the country.
He further stated that Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) had recorded an increase in revenue collection, as Kenyans were consuming genuine alcohol from authorized establishments that paid taxes to the government.
He accused Ruto and his Deputy Kithure Kindiki, for sabotaging his efforts, as Well as PS Raymond Omollo, whom he accused of reaching out to local manufacturers to continue producing poisonous alcohol.
“Your boss, Mr. William Ruto, with the help of your predecessor, Mr. Yes Sir and your PS, deliberately sabotaged the whole programme, and all the gains made were lost. Your PS personally looked for manufacturers of illicit alcohol that we had shut down and authorized them to continue manufacturing and distributing poison,” Gachagua stated.
The new opposition chief further accused the Head of State for interfering with a program that was already working under his wife Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, rehabilitating thousands of youths across the country by cutting budget allocation in her office.
He questioned the plans by the government for trying to bring a program and policy after killing an already working mechanism, which he said nothing forth will come out of the program.
“On addiction, Mr. William Ruto sabotaged a very successful programme by the spouse of the Deputy President of our time by withdrawing budget from the office that was supporting the rehabilitation of thousands of youths across the country. What do you intend to do differently from what had successfully been done? Walk around issuing pressers and threatening Kenyans?” He questioned.
Gachagua further claimed that the president is using alcohol to make young people addictive, which will make him rule over them easily. Directly hitting to two CSs brought in government linked to sale of hard drugs in the country.
He asked Murkomen to stop toying with Kenyans, by issuing threats of arrest to those selling drugs, and asked him get Ruto fire the two CSs first. He claimed that the head of state is not interested in building a sober nation.
“Ruto wants zombies among our population to continue manipulating them with cash hand outs for political control. He is never interested in a sober and productive Nation. That is why he deliberately, while fully aware, brought to the cabinet your two colleagues with a history of destroying our youths by selling hard drugs. How does anybody trust you will sack public officials for abetting the sale of drugs before you ask your boss to deal with your two colleagues who are known international drug lords?” he further questioned.
Gachagua said that the country has enough laws that could be implemented to curb drug and substance abuse among youths, calling for their implementation and instead of issuing threats in press briefings.
