Following an a fire that razed down their house to ashes on Thursday, in Dukana Marsabit County with their child escaping death narrowly, Mwalimu Bonayo Jillo has a reason to smile after residents built a house for him.
On Friday, his neighbours and the community restored their hope by offering not only emotional support but also material support to start over, following the unfortunate incident.
Jillo’s wife Ture Abduba could not hold back her tears, after the gesture from her neighbours, who managed to save her child when she had attended a fellowship in the area, while everything was burnt to ashes, giving her hope and a place to begin rebuilding her life.
Abduba expressed her gratitude in the midst of a breakdown, for being her support system in her time of need, stating that she was left with nothing.
“I lost everything in the fire, but I am grateful for the love and kindness shown to me. I truly believe it has made all the difference,” she said.
The incident was confirmed by area assistant chief Umuro Abudho, who said investigations into the cause of the fire are still underway, as well as the search of the assailants, to explain the motive behind their heinous act. Abudho urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue, and not speculate into the issue.
Abduba called on well-wishers to support her to get back her normal life and essentials home items she lost in the arson on Thursday.
“Every little bit helps, I am asking for support from anyone willing to lend a hand, whether that be through donations or simply sharing our story, I will appreciate it, ” she stated.
A similar incident was witnessed in the area in May 25, after unknown people torched a resident’s house, as he was seated outside his mother’s house, escaping death by a whisker. According to the owner, the assailant came from the back of his house, before setting it on fire.
