President William Ruto has hit out to his opponents and critics that he is ready for the 2027 General Elections, as his development programs will speak for him before the electorates.
Speaking at State House when he met 500 pastors and evangelists from the Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Christian Churches of Africa, Ruto hit out at his critics for lacking an agenda in transforming the country, posing that he is ready for them in 2027.
Quoting the famous quote from former US President Abraham Lincoln, ‘the greatness of a leader is determined by the cause he believes in and the sacrifice he is willing to make to achieve it, said that no amount of propaganda and falsehood will stop people from seeing the progress the country has made since he came into power.
According to him, the government has implemented strategies to stabilize the economy, highlighting the inflation, which stood at 9.6 per cent in 2022, has declined to 3.8 per cent, as well as the exchange of Kenyan shilling with the dollar has stabilized from KSh 165 to close to KSh 130.
“I am ready for the 2027 test. I have a solid report card. I will provide an account of what I have achieved. Today, I can tell you the economy is stable and we are moving forward,” Ruto asserted.
The Head of State further highlighting how he rescued the country from the list if nine African countries in loan default list, and reducing the price of maize flour from KSh 240 to KSh 160 depending on the flour brand.
Ruto asked leaders to stop inciting young people to violence and chaos, instead take part in being part of the solution to solve the country’s greatest menace of youth unemployment. He cautioned that the witnessed violence i not only a threat to the young generation, but the country as a whole.
He explained that the government is working on creating employment opportunities for the youth, citing his core plan affordable housing program which he said has created over 320,000, while another 180,000 are earning through the digital employment program Jitume Labs.
“The task of creating job opportunities for our youth is ongoing. It is not a task that can be completed in one day or one year; it is work in progress,” Ruto said.
