Excitement is building across East Africa as the CECAFA Four Nations Cup prepares to kick off on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Karatu Stadium in Tanzania. The tournament will feature national teams from Uganda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Kenya in a high-stakes contest set to showcase the region’s finest football talent.
The opening day will feature two key semi-final matches. The first clash will see Uganda face off against South Sudan at 13:00 EAT, followed by a highly anticipated encounter between hosts Tanzania and regional rivals Kenya at 16:00 EAT.
This year’s tournament promises intense competition, with each team aiming to sharpen their squads ahead of larger continental qualifiers. For Kenya’s Harambee Stars, the match against Tanzania will be a key test as they look to continue their recent progress under new technical leadership.
The tournament format will see the losers of the opening matches face off in a third-place playoff on Sunday, July 27 at 13:00, while the winners of the semi-finals will battle for the championship later that same day at 16:00.
The Karatu Stadium is expected to draw large crowds, with football fans from across the region traveling to witness what promises to be an electrifying competition. The event is organized under the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), in partnership with local football federations.
