The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested popular Tiktoker Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo Alias Kan Maiyo over allegations of inciting the people against police officers in the country.
In a statement by DCI, Maiyo is the main suspect in a viral video, which claims it incites violence against police officers and their families that was posted on his official account on Tiktok.
“Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo, the suspect behind a viral video inciting violence against police officers and their families, has been arrested. The video had been uploaded to his TikTok account,” read the statement
According to the statement, Maiyo was traced, and arrested at Kimathi House, where DCI stated that he is operating in an office dubbed LetaPeleka Logistics, and is being held by the officers awaiting arraignment in their custody.
“Detectives trailed the suspect to Kimathi House, where he was operating a discreet office under the name LetaPeleka Logistics. He is currently in custody undergoing processing, pending arraignment,” read a part of the statement.
In the said video, the Tiktoker questioned the DCI officer why they follow orders to arrest unarmed Kenyans yet their bosses are the real culprits stealing and misusing public funds. He warned them that they will cry like the families of the victims of police brutality including Denzel Omondi and Albert Ojwang’ who died after being picked by DCI officers.
“These is my message to DCI, those who are abducting people. Let me tell you this you are a parent, brother, sister you are send to abduct a person who is not armed with any weapon, not a criminal or thief. Ask yourself for how long will I continue to be used by this government making the children for other people to suffer?” He questioned.
He pleaded with the officers to stop abductions and killings as no amount of killings and abductions will intimidate and silence the course of fighting for justice and quest good governance in the country.
A video circulating on the internet shows three apparent plainclothes officers forcefully pinning Maiyo to a wall in a corridor indoors before leading him away.
