Like his colleagues who were ousted from Kenya Kwanza government, former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has also spilled the beans following her dismissal from the party.
Speaking during an interview on Friday, May 30, Orwoba revealed what is believed to be steps to climbing on top in the ruling party, which she claimed she turned down, bring her troubles with President William Ruto’s led party.
According to her, she turned down a forced relationship that led to her suspension for six months last year, from attending session in the Senate, she said that she only knew her role was to represent the people and not to get support through sexual advances.
“My role is to represent the women of Kenya, even when I was handed in the suspension ilikuwa kwa nini? Mimi nimekataa maneno yakuenda kutongozwa kwa lazima, I left. I said that if it is a must for me to sleep with someone to get assistance of anything, I refused because I was not informed about that during the swearing in!” Orwoba disclosed.
She said after speaking up about the issue, the matter was silenced and she was handed suspension by the speaker of the Senate Amason Kingi. She claimed that even after the suspension, the matter was not investigated, and deductions were made on her salary contrary to the law.
“Even after suspension, the matter was not investigated! My salary was deducted, which is against the law. The case is now before the court,” she further disclosed.
She further revealed that the people working in parliament know what transpires there, the reason she opted out. Additionally, Orwoba likened the events to the controversial case of women offering sex to get jobs at the Kericho Tea factory.
“What is the difference between this and what happened to women in Kericho Tea Factory where women have to offer themselves to get jobs and advance positions?” She questioned.
Before her recent revelation, earlier the ex-nominated senator disclosed that she regrets impeaching former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, saying she misinterpreted the Usifuge Mlima phrase that the the former DP had constantly used.
