Dukana MCA Adano Boru wants Kenya Police Reserve (KPR) officers, to name those instigating conflict between two communities living in the area after a house was burned down last night.
Speaking after visiting the area yesterday, Boru said it is the responsibility of everyone in the ward to cooperate with security officers to ensure that lasting peace is achieved.
He also urged citizens to provide important information to security agencies regarding those who aim to roll back the steps taken to promote peace between the two communities living in the area.
“We want to also urge every individual within our locality to identify those culprits, the problem is within the community, the culprits are not many, and are individuals who are against peaceful processes of reconciliation. We want to urge the community to give government the information through the chiefs, Deputy County Commissioners, or County Commissioner and also the police officers regarding culprits who are disturbing community,” Boru stated.
In addition, MCA Boru has commended the steps taken in the exercise to bring harmony between the communities in the area as those who had been camped in various areas, including the Catholic church, returned to their homes.
“I want to urge the people of Dukana particularly, to ensure that we don’t go backwards, but move forward with the conviction that peace is important for us and we are brothers and sisters, friends. Let us push the process forward, it might be a slow process but we shall get there,” he further added.
The area has witnessed a series of conflict between Gabbra and Wayu communities, leaving massive destruction including torched homes, stolen livestock and life lost, following the clash.
However, Marsabit County Commissioner James Kamau, confirmed that 18 suspects had been arrested following the clash that has been linked to a powerful political figure at the national level residing in Nairobi and a local MCA.
