A child in Dukana, North Horr Constituency in Marsabit County survived death with a whisker, after a neighbour rushed and rescued the child in the house that was burnt down to ashes.
The incident which happened around 3pm in the afternoon on Friday, happened at a resident teacher identified as Mwalimu Bonaya Jillo, who was not home at the time of the incident, as well as his mother Ture Abdub Huqa, who was away on a fellowship around the village.
According to witnesses, the fire started while the two were away, with course of the fire not yet established, according to the area Assistant Chief Umuro Abudho, who confirmed the incident.
“Fire broke out at Mwalimu’s home when nobody was around, but the neighbours were able to save the child trapped inside the house. The incident happened around 3pm in the afternoon today. Investigations into the cause and who burnt the house is current ongoing,” Abudho confirmed.
He urged residents to remain calm, as investigations continue, and not to speculate the issue that could raise unnecessary tension in the area.
A similar incident was witnessed in the area in May 25, after unknown people torched a resident’s house, as he was seated outside his mother’s house, escaping death by a whisker. According to the owner, the assailant came from the back of his house, before setting it on fire.
