Egypt’s national football team widely known as The Pharaohs has officially secured a place in the knockout round of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) in Morocco after claiming a crucial win over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Egypt sealed their qualification with a disciplined performance, earning a 1–0 victory thanks to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. The forward calmly converted a penalty in the 45th minute, giving his side the lead just before halftime. Despite South Africa’s late pressure, Egypt’s defense remained composed, ensuring the result stayed intact.
With the win, Egypt now sits firmly at the top of Group B with six points from two matches. They opened their campaign with a 2–1 triumph over Zimbabwe and have now strengthened their reputation as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders.
South Africa follows in second place with three points after two games, while Zimbabwe and Angola remain third and fourth respectively, each collecting only one point so far.
As AFCON progresses, Egypt’s consistency, experience, and attacking quality continue to send a clear message to rival teams. With qualification secured, the Pharaohs will now look to rotate wisely, maintain momentum, and prepare for tougher challenges ahead in the knockout phase.
