Elijah Makokha has hit out to Nandi senator Samson Cherargei for too much focus on Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya, and dubbing him a tribalist.
According to the 2027 Trans Nzoia senator aspirant, Cherargei’s remarks are misguided, misleading and from uninformed point of view. He asked Cherargei to render an apology to the residents of Trans Nzoia for failing to understand the issues in their county and insulting their governor.
He further faulted Trans Nzoia senator Chesang, for failing to fully represent the issues and people of Trans Nzoia, thus allowing reckless remarks to be made about the county boss despite having an understanding of what is ailing the county.
“Those utterances are reckless, meaningless, pointless and malicious, when Cherargei tries to paint our governor as a tribal man, I think he is not informed about the issues and what is happening in Trans Nzoia County, he needs to be informed that his colleague the county’s senator Allan Chesang has failed to represent the county, a burden taken by Natembeya to handle issues of Trans Nzoia. Cherargei needs to apologize to the people of Trans Nzoia for insulting their governor and speaking without weighing the impact of his remarks,” he stated.
Further hitting to Chesang, Makokha said the senator has expressed a sense of poor leadership, an insult and disappointment to the residents. It was disappointing to witness that even when Cherargei was insulting Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Trans Nzoia, he failed to stand and defend them.
“He has completely disappointed the people of Trans Nzoia; the kind of leadership he is showing is not the kind of leadership to be in seen in this century, we feel insulted as people of Trans Nzoia. It was disappointing that the senator could not defend our MCAs when they were being ashamed by Cherargei!” Makokha remarked.
Earlier, Cherargei had called Trans Nzoia MCAs a national embarrassment, for giving Natembeya a befitting welcome in Kisumu, while returning from Nairobi, after arrest by EACC on Monday, May 27.
Makokha has fervently defended Natembeya, urging him not to be worried by the intimidation by the state for championing Luhya Unity, as he remains the accepted Kingpin of the community earlier reinforced by former MCA Bernard Muganda.
