Trans Nzoia County senatorial Aspirant has called on residents of Trans Nzoia to maintain peace and discuss with the opposition leaders on issues affecting the country, which he said were brought by Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking with ISFA Media, Makokha gladly welcomed the opposition leaders in the county led by DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Fred Matiang’ia, Cleophas Malala and other leaders, as they meet the large Western region.
“We welcome the opposition into our county and region, as currently the Kenya is at a crossroad and we need leaders who are focused on having a conversation with the electorates,” he said.
On Wednesday, Governor George Natembeya had clarified about the rally, stating that they agreed with former Interior CS Matiang’i to join the opposition by merging the rally with them instead of having separate rallies with the same agenda in the same region.
He further disputed the romours of fallout, stating that two independent rallies had the same agenda, a major reason for combining it into a single two-day mega rally.
“We have canceled our meeting as we will have another meeting with all opposition leaders starting from Luanda, we saw it wise to have a joint rally as our colleagues were around and consolidated it into a single mega rally, on Thursday and Friday,” Natembeya clarified earlier.
According to Natembeya the meeting is aimed at discussing challenges affecting Kenyans, disputing the claims that the Luhya community is not united, and is working with other leaders to ensure they have a higher bargaining power in 2027 General Elections.
“We are having a conversation about Kenya, on why they feel things are headed towards the wrong direction. As Western region there is a notion that the community is not united, but that is what we are dispelling, by working with others to have a bargaining power in 2027 going forward,” he said.
Echoing the sentiments of Natembeya, Makokha said that what the country needs is leaders who will deliver Kenya, which requires leaders to have a seat down, as the current leadership in the country is worrying, with a majority of Kenyas not ahppy with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“We need a serious team, with leaders who will salvage the country when they are needed, as the kind of leadership currently in the country is unacceptable, and most of Kenyans are not happy with the Kenya Kwisha regime,” he added.
