Ruben Amorim’s side Manchester United continued on the bad run following a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.
The narrow win by Chelsea was sponsored by a goal from Marc Cucurella at the 71st minute in the second half, pushing Chelsea fourth at the Premier League Table standings, further igniting the Blues hopes into the Champions league 2025/2026 season.
The struggling Red Devils sit at position 16 at the table ahead of their fellow finalists Tottenham at position 17 in the Europa finals.
Speaking after the match Amorim acknowledged the teams bad run, struggling to score a goal and lack of concentration among his players, even though the team showing competitiveness and improvement.
“It was a bit of bad luck today. Sometimes, we want to press and to score a goal but we lost a little bit of concentration. You never like it when you lose the game but we were competitive, that was clear. We had a lack of aggression in the final third, you can feel it, but I feel we are improving,” Amorim said.
Despite missing on opportunities to handle the ball, and missing chances, Amorim defended his striker Rasmus Hojlund, who seemed to be having a rough night, saying he was impressed with his performance during the match, although urging him to work harder for a better future at Old Trafford.
“I’m happy. Of course all the team has to improve, but the way he runs, he fights for every ball, loses a lot of duels, wins some duels. But he is improving. I’m really happy with him, he just needs to continue working hard and better things will come,” he remarked.
The Blues coach Enzo Maresca however said, his team showed unbelievable performance, attributing the win not only from talent but also effort.
“We’ve said many times that talent alone is not enough, you also need to add the effort. The effort tonight was unbelievable from all of the players. We are happy tonight,” he stated.
The Blues with one match to end the season, hoping for a win to confidently secure and seal a position to fixture in the Champions League, as the prepare for the Conference League Finals.
