Farouk Kibet, personal Assistant to President William Ruto is on the spot over what many have considered as derogatory remarks about nominated MP Sabina Chege while in Lamu County for an empowerment pogram.
After delivering her speech, Kibet made remarks, which many have termed as disrespect to women and mothers in the country, not expected from a senior government official, especially in a women’s meeting and Infront of the country’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki who was part of the guests.
“Huyu mama ako sawa si sawa? Hata vile alivyo akipenduka manafurahia siku zote. Huyu mama akiwa kitandani tunalala kabisa tunaamka kesho nyingine,” Kibet stated.
Seemingly annoyed by his word, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi said that his remarks were an indication or moral degradation in the country, as well as disrespect for women in leadership.
“Total disgrace to the women in leadership. Moral decadence. I thought it was to be a church of god. Now I know,” Amisi stated.
Further hitting out to Kibet is expelled United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba, who said that for anyone to get anything in Kenya Kwanza government, especially women on appointment to meet the President, must go ‘through’ Farouk Kibet or miss the appointment.
“For those who cared to listen…. this is the person you must go through to get an appointment with the president. For women, it is a give and take…. ama uzame,” she rote.
Social media user Amerix, who commands a huge following further rebuked Kibet as lack of decorum and respect to his position, terming his remarks as a total disrespect to the people of Kenya.
“This is mannerless, a lack of decorum and disrespectful to the presidency and the people of Kenya,” Amerix further commented.
Celebrated comedian, Njugush sarcastically asking the disrespected MP who ironically did not take offence how it feels.
“Sabina Chege. Must be nice yess????” Njugush asked.
“Those are the people closest to the president. you can imagine the quality of advice WSR is getting. We’re cooking,” Amir commented.
‘This is what Sabina Chege has been reduced to, she has now replaced Millicent Omanga, bado tu kidogo aanze kushika diabz on stage. Very sad state of affairs. She was once projected as the next most powerful woman in the Mt. Kenya politics,” Mozeh_Ke wrote.
“Sabina now confirms ladies are okay to be sexualized over money or fame,” TopTech added.
With different opinion George Banks, a political economist, said that women in the current leadership have diminished the fight by their predecessors who fought for the good of the nation and representation of women in leadership.
“Let’s not sugarcoat it. These political women in leadership aren’t just a disgrace to the women in this country—they are worse, a betrayal of the nation itself. These are not just failures in power; they are walking insults to every woman who ever fought for representation, equity, and dignity,” Banks differed.
