Former Arsenal and Ghana national team midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has officially been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police, following a prolonged investigation into alleged incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022.
The Year-old is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, to face the charges.
According to a formal statement released by the MET Police, the charges involve three separate women:
Two counts of rape are connected to allegations made by one woman.
Three additional counts of rape pertain to a second woman.
One count of sexual assault is linked to a third woman.
The case is expected to draw significant public and media attention due to Party’s high profile as a former Premier League star and international player. Partey, who joined Arsenal in October 2020 from Atlético Madrid, was a key figure in both club and country before his contract reportedly expired this summer.
Neither Partey nor his legal team has issued an official statement regarding the charges as of the time of reporting. The presumption of innocence remains until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Metropolitan Police emphasized their continued commitment to investigating allegations of sexual violence thoroughly and with sensitivity toward victims.
Further developments are expected to unfold during the upcoming court appearance.
