Githunguri Lawmaker Gathoni Wamuchomba has said that the country is tired and fed up with the leadership of President William Ruto, and is waiting for him to pack and leave in 2027.
Speaking during a morning show Tuesday, Wamuchomba said that the country is done with president, whose popularity and resent among Kenyans have grown wide in the recent days; with his recent directive of shoot to National Police Service (NPS) widening the disconnect between him and Kenyans.
She said Kenyans are only honouring the constitution, waiting to oust him through the ballot in August 2027, as reinforced by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
“We have already finished with President Ruto. We are just allowing him to pack slowly and leave honourably through the constitution,” Wamuchomba said.
Wamuchomba accused Ruto led administration for massive looting of public resources , demanding that the head of state should return the money to appease the already angry Kenya towards him, as he prepares to leave office, as he will not by any chance secure a second chance.
Wamuchomba further accused the government for bottling budget allocation to independent commissions and authorities in the country by underfunding them, which has paralyzed their activities, making it difficult to check his atrocities and their full operationalisation.
She highlighted National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the Ministry of health and the Higher Education Loans Board, among government institutions crippled by underfunding in the past two years of Kenya Kwanza administration.
“In the next budget, Ruto should allow Parliament to do what they need to do to fund independent commissions because his government has unfortunately defunded them. He must allow us to fund the bodies mandated with keeping checks and balances in his government. We are giving him two years to pack slowly as he returns the country to its default mode,” she added.
The legislator allied to Gachagua, further called out the head of state over his recent response to remarks aimed towards his critics, stating that they do not match the status quo of a presidency. She argued the head of state to measure and consider his utterances before lashing out in public.
She also faulted the shoot on the leg directive by the president towards protesters, as an out of order directive from the head of state. Recounting how the head of state flew with nine choppers to her constituency to hit out at her for opposing the 2024 Finance Bill, a 12 minute drive from Nairobi CBD.
“You are not just anyone, you are like a father to everyone. You are not a village elder, you are the President of the Republic of Kenya. Whenever you open your mouth, you must be measured and speak with respect,” Wamuchomba said.
