On June, Thursday 4, Siaya governor James Orengo led a delegation of leaders from Siaya County to Ste House Nairobi, for talks on the development progress of the county, days after openly faulting the Broad-Based pact between UDA and ODM.
The ODM governor had earlier dismissed Sate House visits as favours to keep on praising the Kenya Kwanza government, as well as unnecessary lobbying engagements, as development is a constitutional requirement for all regions in the country.
Orengo, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino have been publicly criticizing the Kenya Kwanza Government, despite their party signing a working agreement with the ruling party to work together.
His latest move jeopardizing his stand, with leaders from his party asking him to torn down on the new activism outfit and joined his colleagues in calling him to demanding for development projects in the county.
After the visit Orengo said that the meeting was geared towards discussing the planned and ongoing development projects in the county, to ensure effective delivery of service to the residents of Siaya County.
We discussed the ongoing and upcoming National Government projects in the county. We explored partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening collaboration between the National and County Governments to foster inclusive development and enhance service delivery for the people of Siaya,” Orengo confirmed.
During the visit, President William Ruto promised that his administration will invest to develop the Usenge Pier road, construction of 16 new markets amounting to KSh 2.5 billions, and more KSh 1.6 Billion for entrepreneurship programs.
“We will invest Sh1 Billion to develop the Usenge Pier and the attendant port infrastructure to stimulate the blue economy in the region. We will also construct 16 markets in the County at a cost of Sh2.5 billion and allocate Sh1.6 Billion in the connection of more than 16,000 households to power to drive entrepreneurship,” Ruto stated.
Since the new found political friendship between ODM party leader and President William Ruto, Nyanza region has seen a series of billions of development projects pumped into the region, including the resident gesture of hosting the 62nd Madaraka Day Celebrations in Homa Bay County.
