Former North Horr MP Chachu Ganya has publicly declared his support for the Broad-Based government between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station in Marsabit, Ganya has lauded the union saying that it has helped in uniting Kenyans, as the president reshuffled his cabinet and included the opposition.
He further commended Ruto for restoring peace, neutralizing and showing commitment to end cattle rustling in Marsabit County, which has been a challenge that previous administrations failed to factor in their governance.
“I’m in broad-based government; I will closely work with both President William Ruto and Raila Odinga. Despite the challenges the two have faced, they have managed to unite Kenyans, I want specifically thank the president for fighting and showing commitment to end cattle rustling in pastoralist community in the country, especially here in Marsabit that has been a challenge for decades,” Ganya remarked.
He further defended the government from TIFA survey released last week, which showed that the government is headed towards a wrong direction. According to Ganya, those are politics being propagated by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, who has been criticizing the government since his ouster.
“Those are politics, politics will always be there. This is a move by Gachagua to tarnish the efforts by the government. If we look at the development projects since they came together, there is progress in the country. Look at the current exchanges between the dollar and our currency. These are just politics,” Ganya said.
Ganya further supported the calls by the president to end abductions in the country, as he has already made a declaration to end the cases, urging for patience as the government works on the reported cases at various police stations across the country.
He called on Gen Zs to act from an informed point of view and use non-violent channels to address their challenges, as they are the future of the nation. Additionally, he called on the vibrant population that has been using social media to call out the government to use the platform to better and empower themselves, as it provides such opportunities.
He further urged them to avoid using the platforms to spread hate, misinformation and disrespect leaders, as there are laws governing the use of the platforms in the country.
“Our young men should also help in promoting peace in the country and use correct channels to present their complains, as the president has confirmed that there will be no abductions in the country, and the government to take responsibility of the reported cases,” Ganya urged.
Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli called on the Kenya Kwanza Government to regulate social media, as it has given youths to much freedom.
