Clouds of confusion continues to cover in Isiolo County following the impeachment of Governor Abdi Guyo on Thursday by the County Assembly.
In the latest drama, Deputy County Speaker and Oldonyiro MCA David Lemantile, has dismissed the gazette notice of the new speaker Abdullahi Banticha Jaldesa, in a gazette notice dated Thursday, June 26 by County Assembly Clerk Salad Boru.
Lemantile said that the Members of County Assembly (MCAs), will neither honour the notice nor allow Banticha in the County Assembly Chambers.
“The gazette notice is null and void to us, and we are not going to honour it. The purported new speaker should have an Assembly in his own house, he will never step in Isiolo County assembly,” Lemantile stated.
He further blasted County Assembly Clerk Salad Boru for interfering with the running of the County Assembly Chambers, arguing that they will not allow him to run the chambers as his own property.
“The Clerk will not choose how the Assembly of Isiolo will be run! We are the elected members, and I think at some point he might degazette members of the county assembly. Let us not misuse the government printer to gazette anything, let it it do its rightful duties,” he added.
Similar sentiments were held by Ngaremara MCA Peter Losu, who said they only recognize Mohamed Roba as their duly elected speaker, refuting appointment of Banticha as a desperate move from Guyo intimidate the MCAs and Roba.
Following the notice, embattled the embattled governor took to his page and congratulated the new speaker and wished him well as he embarks on his new duty post as the Speaker. Guyo urged the new ‘speaker’ to work and serve the people of Isiolo with transparency and accountability.
“We trust that under your leadership, the Assembly will uphold the values of transparency, inclusivity, and accountability. May your tenure be marked by unity, progress, and meaningful development for the people of Isiolo,” Guyo wrote.
The controversies continue as Speaker Mohamed Roba dismissed claims of his resignation, and claimed that Governor Guyo was behind the letter that circulated online earlier this week.
This comes as Senate releases a gazette notice that the House will convene a special meeting to discuss and deliberate the impeachment of Guyo, which was presented by Speaker Roba on June, Friday 27.
