A court in Meru has stopped the County Assembly of Isiolo from hiring in nine advertised positions, as drama and unending conflict continues to fill the Assembly.
In a ruling made by Employment and Labour Relations Court, it suspended the recruitment of 9 positions including assistant clerk and sergeant-at-arms, which were advertised by the embattled clerk Salad Guracha.
Other positions advertised were; Director Legislative, Procedural and Committee Services, Senior Hansard Reporter, ICT officer and Chief Accountant.
The County Assembly of Isiolo has witnessed drama and political supremacy battle since the tabling of an impeachment motion against Governor Abdi Guyo in June.
The leadership of the House plunged into a constitutional crisis, with two sitting speakers including former Isiolo South MP Jaldesa Banticha and incumbent Speaker Mohamed Roba.
The two fractions divided in pro and anti Guyo’s section, has thrown the county into a cloud of confusion, almost paralysing county functions. Since surviving the impeachment at the Senate, political tension in the county remains high, despite calls of unity by Guyo.
On Wednesday, a section of Member of County Assembly (MCAs), led by Deputy Speaker David Lemantile, accused a section of their colleagues for politicising the recently approved 2025/2026 Financial Year budget, which they claimed was passed without following the legal and required procedures.
Lemantile and his team termed the allegations as baseless and aimed at tainting Isiolo County as dysfunctional, as 9 MCAs of 18 passed the bill against the required threshold of 6 MCAs.
