Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in Isiolo County have decried intimidation from Governor Abdi Guyo, following the impeachment motion against the him by 17 MCAs in the County assembly.
Addressing journalists on Friday, led by GarbaTulla MCA Diba Abdirashid and Meja Golicha of Chari, the two reinforced their statement that they will not be intimidate by the Guyo, as what they are doing is within the Constitution of Kenya, as a mandate of the County Assembly.
The MCAs are accusing Guyo of graft and misuse of public funds that has been ongoing for three years, which they Golicha said that they are going to put an end to it through the tabled impeachment.
“I want to tell you Governor Guyo we gave you an opportunity for three years you have been stealing the public money, we will not allow that, because we have tabled a motion for impeachment you have started intimidating us, we will not be cowardice because we are a united front, and we will ensure we send you home,” Golicha remarked.
According to Abdirashid, the motion against the governor is not ill-intended, as they are doing what the people elected them to do, to ensure the county runs in a more effective manner, and cautioned the two MCAs who are being used by the governor to intimidate them, and pointing them out for arrests by the police.
“We will use the powers given to us by the Constitution of Kenya, we will do our work, and will not allow anybody to scare us. I would also like to tell our two colleagues not to accept to be used to fight us. We are doing our duties to the people, not because of a few individuals . We do not have any ill intentions with the governor,” Abdirashid clarified.
The MCAs also called on the government to investigate the kidnapping and torture of former chief of staff, Abdiriham Mohamed, which has been linked to Guyo. They also claimed that their lives are in danger, and cannot trust the police as they have been comprised by the governor.
“We want the government to take action and do investigations to understand what is happening in Isiol,o we have recorded our statements with the police on what we saw on Thursday. Our lives are in danger we can’t even depend with the police because they can be compromised!” Abdirashid further stated .
Senator Fatuma Dullo also condemned the incident, demanding justice for Mohamed, even as her rift and Governor Abdi Guyo continue to widen, following his derogatory remarks towards her early this month.
