After his ouster from the Kenya kwanza administration, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua formed his political outfit Democratic Citizen’s Party (DCP), with regrets of joining government without their own political outfit.
However, things are different for former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i, who has said he does have plan to form a new political party, dismissing claims of being affiliated to any party, despite Jubilee party endorsing him.
According to the 2027 presidential aspirant, he has no intentions of forming a political party, but will present his plans and agenda to the people of Kenya, which he believes it will transform the country from its current shamble.
“Kenyans are tired of being pushed into political groups. All of us need to stand together. This is something that we have all agreed on,” Matiang’i stated.
Speaking during an interview on Monday, the tough speaking said that he is still doing wider consultations and discussions with different political parties in the country, to determine which party aligns with his agenda to affiliate with in his presidential bid.
Matiang’i further slammed President William Ruto for using the church in his 2022 campaign to secure votes from Kenyans, and acting contrary. Speaking in Elegeyo Marakwet on Saturday, Ruto called out the church for inciting, and encouraging Gen Zs to take to the streets.
The headache in the united opposition looms as each party leader presenting themselves as presidential candidate. Speaking during Ngemi Cia Ruraya in Seattle US, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) Martha Karua declared her presidential bid, stating that she will not be anyone’s running mate.
Her remarks contradicting, Gachagua’s statement that the team will deliberate and support the candidate who will be settled on to oust President William Ruto in 2027 General Elections.
“I have said if we pick Kalonzo Musyoka we will support him to the end. If we pick Fred Matiang’i, we will support him to the end. If we pick Eugene Wamalwa to the end. If we our sister Martha Karua we will support her to the end. If by the grace of God the pick Man Riggy G, nitakimbiza hii mtu kama baiskeli ya kuibiwa,” Gachagua said earlier.
