Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah has refuted claims raised former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua that he planned the chaos witnessed in Kikuyu Town, including torching of Kikuyu Law Courts.
In a statement, Ichung’wah termed the allegations by Gachagua as baseless and a failed vengeful mission from ousted DP. He accused the former DP for crossing limits in his recent remarks towards him.
“I have resisted responding to his barrage of ridiculous and senseless accusations, out of respect, perhaps even pity, for a man still licking his impeachment. But the line has been crossed,” he stated.
Ichung’wah said that Gachagua has been propagating lies in the recent days, with increased hatred towards President William Ruto, adding that his web of lies is the reason to his impeachment in September 2024.
According to the UDA legislator, the continued web of lying by DCP Party leader has gone overboard, and posing a threat to the security of the country. As he created his downfall through intimidation of others, calculated chaos and politics of lies
“An obsessive hatred towards President William Ruto and me has gone beyond personal grudges; they have become dangerous and now risk the very existence of our nation, not to mention our democracy. The only person responsible for Gachagua’s political himself. His downfall was not engineered by anybody other than himself,” he further stated.
Kimani further claimed Gachagua’s allies charged in Court are perpetrators and not victims, as evidence points out they were sponsored to create violence and chaos in their areas, to taint the name of the President, and his name.
He challenged them to bring evidence in court, as Kenya is a democratic and just nation, which is not build on sympathy and press statements, but guided rule of law and structures.
“His latest desperate act of accusing us of orchestrating the arrests of his criminal allies is as absurd as it is shameless. If he has an ounce of evidence to prove otherwise, let him take it to the ICC or UN, or whatever rooftop he prefers. But don’t mistake accountability for persecution,” read the statement.
He further accused Gachagua of planning an attack against his parents, and the people of Kikuyu. He cited that the video captured of Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, mobilizing goons to attack Spur Mall in Thika and other planned attacks were not a coincidence.
“It is a pattern. A pattern of recklessness, of entitlement, of blood-soaked ambition. The honourable thing for Gachagua to do is to refute the overwhelming evidence against his allies, not to belatedly throw around names,” he stated.
Further blasting Gachagua, Ichung’wah said the former DP failed to provide evidence of his claims that Juja MP George Koimburi was infused with a poisonous gas when he was abducted. According to him, Gachagua is trying to intimidate the government against taking action on him for his action.
