A somber mood engulfed at Blue-Springs Hotel in Thika as creatives and Kenyans joined the family on a candle lighting for comedian KK Mwenyewe who passed on Thursday , July 15 at Kiambu Level Five Hospital.
During the mass, members of the public were introduced to little known KK Mwenyewe’s girlfriend whom the MC as Pauline.
The crowd was moved to tears, as she softly shortly eulogized her boyfriend, leaving the crowd in tears. Pauline dressed in a black dress, black and white collage jacket and sandals, thanked the crowd for standing with her, with tears visible in her eyes.
“My name is Pauline. Mine is to thank all of you for showing up. I don’t have much to say. I just want to say thank you and may his soul rest in peace,” she said.
During the candle lighting Dennis Itumbi, Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, urged the creative community to build national SACCOs and a welfare fund to protect those who give the nation its soul.
President William Ruto honoured KK with a Ksh 1M donation. Governor Susan Kihika (Ksh 200K), Lari MP Mburu (Ksh 100K), and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah (Ksh 200K) stood in solidarity.
According to his friend Kafengo, in a Tiktok live session disclosed that the late comedian had recurrent stomach complications for years, but the situation had improved, even before his untimely death.
“He had been going to hospital, yes, but two months ago, the issue became more serious, and a month later it worsened. On Friday, July 11, he went to a private hospital and was referred to a public hospital for further assistance,” he narrated.
Kafengo further said that the late comedian had shown improvement after admission, and had visited his family promising to return to the hospital on Monday. Kenyans continue to eulogize the late comedian who will be buried tomorrow at his father’s home in Lari Constituency in Kiambu.
