Laikipia East Lawmaker Mwangi Kiunjuri has slammed opposition leaders from Mt. Kenya region leading the people in opposing President William Ruto, under the Wantam slogan , closely associated with Democratic Citizen Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua.
He further hit n the leaders saying they are opposing the president, yet they don’t have financial muscles to support themselves.
“Unajua mgala muue lakini haki yake mpee, you know there are people nowadays saying they do not want to hear the president being mentioned. You don not want to hear the president being mentioned and you don not have your money,” Kiunjuri remarked.
He advised those opposing Ruto to confirm with their county governors and residents of the development programs and agendas, which are visible and tangible.
“The work President William Ruto has done, ask the county government or anybody, it can be seen touched and you can smell,” he further said.
A section of leaders from the region have been decampaigning Ruto, after what they termed as political betrayal after the ouster of Gachagua as the deputy president in 2024. The political loyalists of Gachagua including senators Karungo Thangwa’ah, John Methu, MP Gathoni Wamuchomba and former Laikipia Women Representative Kate Waruguru.
The team has been championing to ensure that their former party leader in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), President William Ruto serves only one term due to his failures in delivering service to the people of Kenya, as outlined by UDA manifesto.
During the an interview that spark discussion about his remarks on the 2027 general elections, Gachagua maintained that DCP main agenda is to ensure that Ruto does not secure a chance for a second term. He also boldly said that the launch of the party will be historical in the making of political parties in Kenya.
Gachagua has not ceased to call out Ruto’s government and revealing ‘dirty’ dealings that has been happening at State House Nairobi, under the leadership of his former boss William Ruto.
