Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP), Felix Odiwour famously known as Jalang’o has endorsed Embakasi East MP Babu Owino for Nairobi County Gubernatorial race.
Speaking during an interview with his former colleague journalist Alex Mwakideu on AM Live, Jalang’o said that he is preparing the people for Babu’s governorship.
According to him, if Babu is handed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket, or denied he will be a person of interest, and his competitors will have a tough and rough time to clinche the seat.
“Leo hii nakuambia, Babu Owino akipewa hii ticket ya ODM, Babu atakuwa governor. Even if the ticket is not handed the ticket, anaenda kusumbua sana. i’m preparing you for the leadership of his Excellency Babu Owino, governor Nairobi,” Jalang’o said.
His remarks comes after ODM party leader Raila Odinga early this year endorsed incumbent governor John Sakaja for a second term, an endorsed that was also supported by Kenya Kwanza key principals.
Jalang’o further adding that Babu will only serve one term and go for the top seat in 2032, which will be left vacant as the people present will be the current young parliamentarians including Ndindi Nyoro among others eyeing for the presidency, as he takes over the leadership of Nairobi.
“He will only serve one term as he scales to the top, and leave me with the leadership of Nairobi. As 2023 there will be a vacant, anaenda kupata kiwanja iko free vita nyiinge tofauti, ni vijana sasa wameingia plae Ndindi anataka, Babu anataka nani anataka, sasa ni vijana wa hii rika yetu watakuwa pale,” Jalng’o further explained.
Babu has created a fanbase not only in Nairobi, but remains a favorite among young people across the country, for his close support for the people, and always on their decide despite his party position.
Sakaja has been called for failing to deliver for the people of Nairobi, with his recent link to sponsoring goons to infiltrate peaceful Gen Z protests’ tainting his image, allegations he denied, stating that he believes in “siasa safi’, and not violent politics.
