A businessman travelling from El Molo to Loiyangalani was on June, Sunday 8, attacked by unknown people early in the morning as he moved around supplying goods.

Confirming the incident, Loiyangalani Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Stanley Kimanga said that there was a shootout near his office, aimed at the businessman who was transporting his goods including clothes to Loiyangalani town.
Kimanga further confirmed that no causalities were reported in the incident, despite presence of gunfire exchange.
“A businessman was this morning attacked by unknown people near my office. He was travelling from El Molo to Loiyangalani town to distribute his goods, which were majorly clothes when the attackers started shooting. However, no one was injured following the incident,” Kimanga confirmed.
He said that the police officers in the area are currently continuing with the investigations, to rack down the assailants as well as understand the reason behind the attack.
The incident came barely hours after Loiyangalani OCS was caught in a gunfire exchange between National Police Reservists (NPR) and police, while trailing down bandits believed to come from the neigbouring county of Samburu.
The morning incident took place at behind Desert Museum in Loiyangalani, and according to a statement earlier issued by Kimanga, the officer was airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment and is in a stable condition.
Two weeks ago, a businessman was murdered outside a club in the area, after a suspected club fight. The suspects were trailed and arrested while trying to flee towards Kalokol Turkana County. The deceased sustained head injuries from a blunt object that led to his death.
The six suspects are currently in custody, after the investigating team asked for more days to detain the suspects to conclude the investigations.
Loiyangalani town has in the past few weeks experienced unrest and attacks, despite ongoing peace calls, rallies and meetings by leaders, peace ambassadors and community elders, for residents to keep and maintain peace.
Kimanga called on residents to report the criminals coming from other counties to cause unrest, and later leaving behind destruction and lost lives. Kimanga urged resident to stop hiding the perpetrators, and inform the security officers of any new people coming into the area.
