Machakos County Deputy Governor Francis Maliti, has asked the Kenya Kwanza government led by President William Ruto, to resign over failure to deliver to Kenyans, and increased insecurity cases in the country.
He said Kenya Kwanza is not the first government to receive criticism from Kenyans, as the previous regime was questioned and called out when bodies were being retrieved in River Yala, the killings witnessed during opposition demonstrations led by ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Maliti further said the government has failed, ever since the Gen Z led protests against the controversial 2024 Finance Bill, with some youths still missing and the recently witnessed killings of the priests, whom he said helped them clinch the leadership of the country.
“We openly and frequently criticized the past regime over the bodies of Kenyans recovered at R. Yala. We have seen the killings during demonstrations led by Raila Odinga, Gen Z protest with some still missing, now we are witnessing killings of priests, that stood with this government until they won, Kindly sort this issue of insecurity and missing people,” Maliti stated.
He further said the regime has failed to protect Kenyans together with their possessions, a key mandate of the government, as leaders are being killed in broad-day light. He urged the regime to resign and give Kenyans an opportunity to elect leaders who will deliver and protect Kenyans.
“The key role of government is protect its people by providing enough security, which Kenya kwanza has failed, we have seen leaders being killed in public, if you have been defeated to protect Kenyans and their properties kindly resign and give Kenyans an opportunity to elect leaders who can deliver!” He further said.
His remarks come after Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna slammed the president for focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated polls that showed his popularity in the country, and failing to deliver to Kenyans.
Sifuna said that Ruto has directed his efforts in a wrong direction that will not help him, including using online bots to fight him. Additionally, the vocal ODM secretary general said that Ruto has contributed to his own downfall and bad name for the Kenya Kwanza regime.
