Dukana area in North Horr Constituency in Marsabit County has been thrown into mourning in a tragic fire incident on the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
The morning incident confirmed as by Marsabit County Assistant Commissioner Njuki Nazario, claimed the life of a 2-year-old toddler, who was sleeping at the moment of the unfortunate incident.
Nazario urged residents to remain vigilant, as the area experience strong windy seasons, which is likely to cause bush fires in the county owing to the dry nature of the county.
“We received reports of a fire incident that claimed the life of a 2-year-old child in Dukan area at around 5:50am in the morning. I want to call on our people to be cautious during this windy season, which can cause fire after trees strike each other,” Nazario confirmed.
The body of the deceased child was taken to Marsabit Referral Hospital, as authorities in the area begin investigations to establish the cause of the inferno.
The death comes barely two weeks, after another child in the area survived death by a whisker in the same area, after the mother left for a fellowship, when the fire broke out at their home in the afternoon.
The inferno destroyed everything in the house, with residents who witnessed the incident said they were caught off -guard, with the area Assistant Chief Umuro Abudho confirming that the cause of the fire was not yet established.
In the neigbouring county of Isiolo, five members from one family, a mother, her three children and a cousin, succumbed into a fire incident in Kachewa village in Bulla Pesa area, which was linked to a love-triangle, fueling anger among residents who lynched, and burnt the suspect to death, and later torching her house.
The incident causing political tension in the county, with Isiolo County Governor Abdi Guyo, accused a section leaders from the county for using the tragic incident to advance their political agendas.
