The meteorological department in Marsabit County has said the county will receive little rains from June 3-6.
According to the weatherman’s report in the county, the area will experience sunny conditions during the day, with cloudy nights. However areas like Marsabit County, Sagante, Maikona and Golbo will receive very little rains.
Rainfall is expected to reduce in the course of the week, as compared to the previous forecast running between Wednesday, May, 27- and June 2. Additionally, strong winds are from the South East to hit the area at a speed of 12.9 per second, will be experience in many areas across the county.
Last week, the area experienced medium wind, as strong winds were experienced in various parts of the county, with little rainfall in some areas. The weatherman however, confirmed that there were no any harmful effects from the strong winds experienced across the county.
Earlier, agriculture experts had warned that the food production in the county will go down by 40%, if the dry conditions continue to be experienced in the county, as many crops in the field were at the flowering and budding stage, a critical stage that requires enough supply of water.
According to a statement made by Saku Sub-county agricultural officer Duba Nura, the most likely areas to be affected include Moyale Constituency and Sololo, where cases of food shortage will be witnessed if the rains do fall.
According to the Kenya Met Department the weather out look for the country between 2 – 9 June 2025, shows that persistent rainfall is expected in Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast and Western Kenya.
“Daytime temperatures above 30°C will be experienced in: much of the Coast North Eastern Kenya and North-western Kenya, with night time temperatures below 10°C are likely to be experienced in some parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley and Areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro,” Kenya Met Department report showed.
