Marsabit County leaders led by Governor Mahmoud Ali have rallied their support behind President William Ruto, to ensure he secures a second chance in the 2027 General elections.
Speaking during a fundraising drive at ACK Rehoboth Mata Arba Church, the leaders highlighted the development programs by the president since taking office in 2022, following his promise to transform pastoralists’ communities by putting development initiatives in the area.
Governor Ali further assures Ruto of the county’s full support. He dismissed the Wantam narrative by his former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua as obvious politics. He further stated that the support follows his appointment of leaders from the region and the lifting of the mandatory vetting process during registration of National Identification Cards (IDs).
“The appointments of Harsama and other PSs from Pastoral regions are clear indicators of the President’s commitment to our region. Projects like the equipping of Sololo Level Four Hospital, the tarmacking of the road from Marsabit town to North Horr, and the stalled Marsabit Stadium’s upcoming completion demonstrate the President’s genuine investment in our people. In Marsabit, we stand behind the President” Ali stated.
Further seconding the governor, PS Kello Harsama reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza government to engaging with the residents as truthful, following the frequent visits by senior officials to inspect the projects initiated by government in the region, a key reason to support his re-election.
Deputy Speaker Hon. Gladys Boss Shollei, who was the guest of honour commended the Broad-Based government by President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, which she further said has managed to unite Kenyans and stabilize the country, by reducing the high political temperatures that were being witnessed in the country.
Leaders present included Marsabit Women Representative Hon. Naomi Wako, who challenged residents to compete in the registration of IDs, to have a higher political bargaining power in the next general elections.
“Now that we have been given the opportunity, all the 14 tribes, I want to challenge you to compete amongst each other so that we can have a good number to vote,” she urged.
She further made a call to local leaders and security officials to ensure that the process goes on smoothly, with a mass registration witnessed in Moyale, to replicate in Saku and Sololo, stating that action will be taken action will be leaders interfering with process, as reported and witnessed.
