Moyale Constituency legislator Prof. Guyo Jaldesa has called on leaders from Marsabit County to unite to spark development in the area, following the divide recently witnessed among a section of leaders from the county.
Jaldesa urged leaders to burry their past differences and focus on delivering services and discussions on how they can bring development in the vast marginalized county.
Speaking during issuance of bursary at Moyale Boys High School, he emphasized on the importance of unity for the region to make progress in development. The legislator was unveiling a KSh 73 million bursary program that will benefit students from vulnerable families in the constituency.
“For us to see development not only in Moyale but Marsabit, our leaders must put aside their differences, and choose to work towards a common goal of bring development in the county,” he emphasized.
The program under the NG-CDF, saw 4,8881 students benefiting with KSh 8,000 each, while KSh 39 million was distributed in 17 secondary schools in Moyale and Sololo.
Additionally, he called on leaders on various elective positions to now work for the people and stop politicking, as it now their opportunity to serve the residents who gave them the mandate in 2022.
Jaldesa further echoed similar sentiments of former National Treasury Ukur Yatttan for residents to come out and apply for the National Identifications (IDs), as the process currently is free after president William Ruto lifted the mandatory vetting process during the first time application process.
“When President William Ruto visited our region, he removed the barrier of undergoing the vetting process to get IDs, now it is free and currently ongoing, for our people who do not have IDs, you should visit and watch the officers carrying out the processes across our villages to acquire one,” Jaldesa urged.
Additionally, the Ministry of Education had also rolled out the process of ID application in Secondary Schools, for students eligible to hold IDs, and have attained the age of 18 years across the country. PS Julius Bitok through a statement in May, urged heads of schools to cooperate with the registration officers.
