Marsabit County Woman Representative Naomi Waqo has continued with the Kenya Kwanza empowerment drive in the county, after she donated tailoring machines, sewing machines, and car washing machines to women in Kukub in Sololo location.
Waqo said that the donation is killing the dependency factor among women and youths in the county by empowering them with skills to be economically stable, restore their dignity as well as securing their future as sustainers of any society. ”
These tools are not just equipment, they are stepping stones toward self-reliance, dignity, and a better tomorrow. I remain committed to walking with the people of Kukub and beyond. We will build stronger, more empowered communities,” Waqo stated.
Spending a better part of the day in various villages within Sololo Location, the legislator expressed her commitment to ensure that the residents live a dignified life, but pledging her support to the people.
Waqo expressed her support after visit the community, which she said was yearning for development through their determination and resilience. In further supporting the community, she donated books to Kukub Primary School, indicating her commitment to support education in the county.
According to her, securing the future of the children through education gives hopes to the community for a better, secured future, which will spark development with enough experts from the county.
“Education being the cornerstone of any thriving society, I was glad to support the school by distributing textbooks to the pupils. These children are the future, and we must invest in their growth and learning,” she further stated.
Waqo in her interaction personal with the members of the society expressed challenges grappling the community in what she termed as secluded from individual to individual, acknowledging that the voice of every member matters.
“I had a heartfelt interaction with the pupils, women, and youth. We sat under a tree, a simple, humble setting and listened to one another. They shared their challenges openly, and I listened keenly, because every story matters, and every voice deserves to be heard,” she explained.
The opportunity according to her gives an insight of what is a priority to the residents of Marsabit, making it easier to find a way to tackle the challenges.
