
Suspects linked to the death of a businessman in Loiyangalani arrested by police.
Police have arrested four suspects in connection to the murder of 38-year-old businessman in Loiyangalani, Marsabit, on Monday, May 26.
Confirming the incident, Loiyangalani sub-county Deputy Police Commander (DPC) Nicholas Mutua, said the man was killed on Monday night outside a club in Loiyangalani town.
Among those arrested is the owner of the club, who reported the murder early this morning, after finding the body of the deceased outside the club to assist in the investigation.
“I was informed of a body early this morning by the owner of the club, together with OCS, and CISO of a body of a 38-year-old man, the body had injuries on the head. We suspect that injuries were sustained from a fight, and we have arrested suspects that we are connecting with the murder, including the club owner, and three others,” Mutua confirmed.
Mutua also stated that bodaboda operator is also being detained on suspicion of aiding the main suspect fleeing from the scene of crime. According to him, the deceased businessman was killed using a blunt object, that was used to struck him to his death.
He confirmed that investigations are underway, with the rest of the suspect still in search, though reports indicate that the suspects might have found refugee in the neigbouring county of Turkana.
“From the scene, it looks like their was a commotion, owing to the presence of stones, the deceased seemed to have been struck with a blunt object. Investigations are still going on to crack down the suspect, with information already in Turkana to get help, as they are escaping through Lake Turkana,” Mutua further stated.
Mutua assured the residents that security officers will be deployed in the area, to ensure that security is beefed up, and all entertainment joints are closed down by 11pm in the night, as the criminal are finding shelter in them and harming innocent residents.
“I want to assure the residents of Loiyangalani town, that we shall improve security, police will deployed for patrols to ensure that by 11pm, all clubs in the market have been closed down, because the clubs have been the hiding place for suspects,” he stated.
