Controversial Kenyan-Canadian based lawyer Miguna Miguna dismissed the opposition led by DCP party leader as a grouping of jokers, citing lack of tangible agenda by the group to transform the country.
Speaking during a televised interview on Sunday evening, he stated that the current political alignments in the country are fueled by personal ambitions, as compared to a truthful push for transformation.
Miguna accused the opposition and the government for disregarding constitutional guidelines, looting public resources and amassing wealth for them.
“The so-called opposition is a joke, the same way Ruto is a joke. Many of these people do not care about adhering to the Bill of Rights or implementing it. They do not care about defying court orders and looting. If you audit wealth, they would not be able to explain how, with their meager salaries, they became billionaires in terms of dollar,” Miguna remarked.
Singling out one by one, Miguna said that Gachagua is unfit to bring change, citing their old days at the University of Nairobi, while accused President Ruto for championing authoritarianism.
“I was with Gachagua at the university; he was two years ahead of me. He does not in any way represent transformation. William Ruto supported Daniel Arap Moi one party state in 1987, when many of us were campaigning against it. He supported that throughout and is still supporting. That is why he is with Fred Matiang’i,” he explained.
Miguna however, expressed his full support to the Gen Z protests and political awakening driven by them, describing them as the true agents of change, citing global revolutions calling for change were led by youths including Russia, France and Cuba revolutions.
“They are doing a marvelous historical job. The youth is the center of change historically. The youth is the bulwark of the movement that eventually transformed the system I’m talking about,” Miguna states.
He further stated that the young generation is the one that bares the country’s systematic failures including the menace of unemployment, repressions and homelessness. He called for support to the largest vulnerable population of the country to achieve what their parents failed to achieve.
“They are the ones who are most repressed and oppressed, the most exploited, unemployed and homeless. They feel the pain of the independence betrayal more than any other group. All that needs to done is for Kenyans of goodwill to support them,” he added.
He however, called on Gen Zs to have a clear ideology and direction in their fight for a transformative country, for their movement to have meaning.
“I support what they are doing fully, but it has to be ideologically driven, because ideology is the software of politics. If you don’t have an ideology, you cannot lead any transformative change, because you don’t have the software on which to do that,” Miguna emphasized.
The controversial lawyer said that the country has never witnessed any transformative change, as the government has key institutions have continues to be a tool to oppress and suppress the opposition.
